Unboxing Beauty May: Kinder Beauty Box

Written and Edited by: Marrista K. Stubbs

Spring has sprung and we’re one month closer to the beauty of summer! As a part of my journey into the world of cosplay and beauty, May’s unboxing is for Kinder Beauty. The site offers only one box, starting at $25 USD/month, and a few payment plans that make buying in bulk a good deal. Every month subscribers “get up to $165 worth of clean, vegan & cruelty-free skincare, makeup, hair-care, and accessories, including at least two full-sized products.” I’ve had a chance to dig into the Kinder Beauty box – which was co-created by actress Evanna Lynch of the Harry Potter franchise – and all of its goodies. I’m pretty happy with the haul.

The May Kinder Box

Mini Airsponge, Base Blue $3.98 USD

Mini Airsponge

This sponge is so tiny and cute I actually said “aww” when I saw it. I had to enlist the help of Coco for this one since I don’t wear foundation and thought it would be the best way to test out this tiny sponge. Airsponge is the perfect name for this blender because it is so soft. It’s also great for getting into some of the tighter spots too (i.e. nose, eyes). Not only did it do a great job of applying Coco’s foundation, but it was easy to clean too. Let this little guy soak up some water and it’ll double in size. A bit of soap and some light massaging later, all of the product was easily squeezed out of the sponge and down the drain. Once the Airsponge dries out, it’s ready for use again!

Walnut Hill Facial Serum, Franklin & Whitman $39.95 USD

Walnut Hill Facial Serum

I can’t say enough nice things about the Walnut Hill facial serum! I’ve used this product in my morning routine since getting it and have noticed that my skin is softer and the texture has improved. I even think it’s safe to say that it’s helped with some of my combination skin problems; I’m a lot less oily in my T-zone. I love the fact that this serum is so hydrating and doesn’t contain ANY fillers including water, alcohol, and silicone. I can see that the consistent use of this serum is improving my skin and knowing that it’s packed with antioxidants and is an anti-inflammatory is just icing on the cake. This is one of my favorite products for this month’s box.

Biocellulose Peel Mask, Midflower – $15 USD

Midflower‘s mask claims it will “keep your skin smooth and refreshed” as it delivers “the [Damask] rose essence’s 300+ nutrients” when you wear it for 60 minutes. My mask was a little small so it didn’t “seamlessly hug” my face as stated. However, it did feel like a kind of smooth, second-skin on my face and was comfortable to wear. Toward the end of my hour, the mask began to feel like a dry Autumn leaf and was very easy to peel off. My face did feel hydrated and looked a bit brighter afterward. I don’t know if I’d pay $15 for a mask, but this was definitely a good product to use.

Anti-Wrinkle Scrub, Derma E $13.75 USD

Anti-Wrinkle Scrub

I’ve been using this scrub every other day as a second cleanser in my morning routine. Even though it’s an exfoliant, it glides smoothly over my face without irritating my skin. I can confirm that this scrub removes surface dead skin and doesn’t leave me feeling dried out after washing it off. I have noticed smoother skin and a reduction of fine lines on my face in conjunction with using the Walnut Hill Face Serum. This is a close second for the best product in the box for me.

Matte Lipstick, Realher $18 USD

Matte Lipstick

Shade – I Am A Leader

This line of matte lipstick includes 12 different shades named after affirmations that should cross your lips every day. The shade I received is called I Am A Leader and is listed as a “Red Terracotta” on the website. On me, this lipstick presents itself as a soft, dusty rose. I normally don’t wear lipstick because I feel like it dries out my lips, so I was nervous to give it a try. This matte not only glides on like a dream but the Jojoba seed oil it’s infused with helps keep my lips feeling hydrated. I also tried wearing it for a few hours and was pleasantly surprised by its longevity and comfort. I forgot I was wearing it but was able to go about my day as normal without smudging it on anything!

Product information card

Overall I loved this box! Everything I received was well made and, for the most part, live up to their claims. Kinder Beauty Box provides high-quality vegan products at a great price if you ask me. I’m excited to see what will be in June’s box from Kinder Beauty and hope you will continue to join me on this cruelty-free beauty journey. If you’re aware of a great vegan subscription box feel free to comment below! I’m always looking for new products and would love to know any favorites y’all have!
